Our Wicker WeaveWhat’s so special about our synthetic wicker? Our outdoor furniture is hand-woven with our exclusive American Home & Patio synthetic fibre. They are produced from dyed polyethylene material – are stain resistant, exceptionally robust and environmentally friendly. We tried to replicate the unique colour and surface effects of the natural wicker and rattan peel. This enables us to build durable furniture with an exceptionally stunning, natural look. Our synthetic wicker requires no special maintenance and is easy to clean. (product care) We also offer a leather “look & feel” which helps us build furniture that is modern yet classy for both indoor and outdoor applications.
We recommend the use of American Home & Patio outdoor furniture only between -20 degree Celsius to +50 degree Celsius surface temperature. Although our polyethylene material is cold-resistant down to -30 degrees, at this cold extreme, the material becomes very hard (and breakable)…like glass. At the heat extreme, the material can melt under any weight or pressure. However, the fibre will come back to its initial shape once removed from the heat. Additional notes…. We use tempered glass for some of our table tops. Although the glass is included with the tables, it becomes an optional use item and NOT recommended for regions that have temperatures of +40 degrees Celsius or higher. The glass tops can potentially create a “lens effect” in sunlight, which can soften and ripple with weave underneath the glass. What’s so special about our natural wicker? Our indoor furniture is hand-woven with only the best manau rattan and now the new exciting kubuu wicker material creating strong, durable framework. We apply 3 sanding stages during the production providing a smooth “silk blouse-safe” finish. We use our twisted abaca material on a few of our indoor collections and is tightly hand-woven in a dark walnut finish to create an elegant and sophisticated look.
